Solutions Development Process

Web site design is an integral part of your marketing efforts. We begin every project with a comprehensive needs analysis in order to define your goals. Then we make it our business to ensure that those goals are met.

The Process
Our approach divides the project into the following 6 phases:

Phase 1:  Information Gathering/Planning

Phase 1 focuses on collecting the background information you need before you begin.  What do you need to know about the project goals and mission?  Who is the target audience and what do they want?  What sort of resources do you have?

We would be happy to offer your a free consultation to evaluate your needs and options. If you are ready to take control of your business, fill out our online Request for Proposal and we will contact you within hours.

Needs (Requirements) Analysis

After we understand the end-user and content, we begin the Needs (Requirements) Analysis/System Design phase.

Our process first starts with Planning. The purpose of this step is to identify what content the website should include. We learn about you and your customers so that we can develop a powerful, intuitive tool. We ask and actively listen to how you envision your site and work with you to develop that vision. We then analyze and organize the content in a logical manner that will be easy to access and navigate.

Phase 2:  Strategy

In Phase 2, the focus is on defining your approach.  How should you identify problems?  What solutions are possible, and how do you discover them?  This phase focuses on brainstorming and problem solving.

Phase 3: Prototyping

In the prototyping phase, you create a rough plan for how the site will work.  What can you do to predict how people might move through the information?  What assumptions have you made so far, and how can they be tested?  Both the strategy and prototyping phases are crucial for navigation design.

This includes graphics, typography, layout and user interfaces. We develop a strong design that reflects you and your business while keeping in mind that the overall design and layout must be your website's first and best impression.

Phase 4: Implementation

Using the results from Phase 3 as a guide, you'll build the site in Phase 4.  What content issues present themselves in this phase?  How can design, back-end systems, and content be smoothly integrated?  How should you address new problems that might surface in this phase?

Once you are satisfied with the design, we begin actual production of the specific elements. We build the pages, integrate the graphics, write the programming and finalize the content.

Phase 5: Customer Acceptance

Phase 6: Launch

Launch covers the period just before and after the site's premiere.  In this phase, you should plan on extensive testing.  What testing needs to happen to ensure consistency, compatibility, and stability?  When will you know you're ready to launch?  Once the site is live, how can you help people find it?

After the website has been built, tested and previewed on our server, we upload the site to your server and coordinate with your in-house webmaster to ensure a smooth transition. Once the site is live online, we register it with the major search engines and directories to maximize exposure and encourage traffic to your website.

Phase 7: Site Maintenance, Support, and Growth

Web development is a cyclical process, not a linear one.  Ideally, you don't publish and move on.  You publish and check, update, revise, and reinvent.  How can you maintain consistency without hampering growth?  What else should you do to keep the site in good condition?  When is the time to redesign? We recognize that the Internet is a dynamic medium and your website will have to change and grow constantly as you respond to your clients' needs. In anticipation of the need to grow, we build your website with a flexible structure that allows for painless maintenance and updates. We provide regular maintenance and update services to keep the content of your website fresh, accurate and compelling. If your site is hosted by us, we also provide daily, weekly and monthly statistical reports so that you know exactly how your website is being used, by whom and how often.
